Our Game Rating System
In the world of retro gaming, it is very important that when investing in vintage game or vintage game hardware that you buy is something that will be worth checking out. In terms of game quality and fun factor, ratings and reviews are tools that you can use to help you better find whether or not a certain game in question is worth your time and/or money. Here at the Solid State Gamer, the rating the site uses is a five point scale which expressed with roman numerals (e.g. [III/V]). The numerical score ratings are as follows:

*[I/V]: Very Bad – Any game that recieves this score has many problems that prevent the game from being entertaining in any capacity. Those problems could be (not limited to) heavy techical issues, dull graphics and sound/music, broken features, and needlessly complicated aspects.

*[II/V]: Bad – Any game with this rating could have a couple of problems that aren’t completely hindering the game from having a little entertainment value.

*[III/V]: Competent – Games that are “competent” are middling in in quality and or entertainment value. These games might have good ideas, but might not have a high graphical, technical, or audio quality.

*[IV /V]: Good – These games are ones that have a relatively high quality. It possibly has well done graphics and sound, good game play, and or possibly push a game genre in a new direction though either refinement or innovation.

*[V/V]: Very Good – The games dispay the finest quality of games. These game have prestine graphics and sound. The game play is polished and the overall presentation of the game meshes with the mechanical execution of it.
